A large agricultural producer in Ladner has expanded its facilities including a new storage facilities, andthe geotechnical conditions are very challenging due to settlement concerns and bearing capacity concerns which vary with depth, combined with tidally influenced groundwater conditions. Heavy loadings from loading bays, racking, and hot water recirculation tanks provide potentially challenging geotechnical concerns.
A prominent food grower in Ladner has expanded its facilties and for Phase 4, 5, 6, and 7, including a food packing area, the geotechnical conditions are very challenging due to settlement concerns and bearing capacity concerns which vary with depth, combined with tidally influenced groundwater conditions. Agricultural Industry
Expansion of a greenhouse complex on ALR ground proves challenging near Burns Bog where peat, soft silts and loose sands are prevalent for the expansion of greenhouses, office complexes, water storage tanks and water impoundment systems. Concerns include settlement and bearing issues, compounded with peat soils, high and fluctuating groundwater conditions and extremely poor soil conditions.

Slope Stabilization, Maple Ridge, BC
Residents of a steep area adjacent to a gully near Kanaka Creek have found that the backwards are sliding into an adjacent greenbelt, resulting in mmoving backyards and damage to non-residential outbuildings. A complex yet practical economic solution employing driven piles, a pile cap and load compensating EPS (polystyrene) is being used to unload the slope and to slow the rate of movement of the failed mass.

Queensborough Bridge Rehabilitation Project
The contractor that was awarded the Rehabilitation project for Highway 99A starting in 2026 has to build pads for support in poor soils below the bridge, to support shoring and AWP structures for all weather conditions for the repairs to the superstructure of the bridge. Our scope was to provide recommendations for geogrid and geotextile and gravel structures for the temporary support and laydown areas, slope assessments, and evaluation of utilities in soft soils.
