Chehalis was founded initially in 1997, and is named after the Chehalis River Valley, where the company focused on terrain stability, watershed management, and natural resource management in the forest sector where the predecessor company (Chehalis Consulting) was operating as a proprietorship..

After incorporation, the company was initially focused on management of the Forest Renewal BC Multi-Year Agreement, which involved classification, identification and implementation of works on high-risk sites in the Norrish Creek Valley which is also a community watershed for Abbotsford - Mission. This work was supplemented by terrain stability field assessments for clients in the Terrace - Kitimat - North Coast area, and other clients in the Fraser Valley.

In 2006, under a shift in the tenure system in the Forest Industry, changes came to the industry. Under these changes, many clients operations ceased operations, and at the time, Chehalis Consulting Ltd. entered a hiatus period.

In 2014, the Company once again became active after a dormancy, but a new industry was in the stages of construction. At this time, while engaged in a full-time position providing construction management / engineering services at Ruskin Dam in Mission, BC, the company was also engaged on an ad-hoc bases on several projects in the independent power project (IPP industry) on run-of-river projects. During this time, Chehalis also was engaged in many engineering projects for temporary works on a variety of projects all over BC (see Projects section of this website).

SInce 2006, the company and its key employee have been engaged on several large projects, situated all over BC, in a variety of roles. Some of these projects include:
